ADULTS PLUS COUNCIL MEETING

MINUTES

MAY 15, 2002

The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Melvin McIntosh.

 

Melvin expressed appreciation to Bill Pearce for presiding at the April 17, 2002 meetings. He also thanked everyone for their prayers and cards.

 

The minutes of the April 17, 2002 meeting were approved as distributed

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

 

-                                                     Rev. Philip Brown on “You Making the Decisions for Your Future”. He is a Methodist minister in the North Carolina

Conference.

-                                                     Possibly Doug Mayes

-                                                     Possibly Dr. James Tabor, who is interested in coming back for a program.

and return by 4:00 p.m. Deadline for reservations is June 16th• Cost is $5.00, which will be collected at lunch. Two vans are reserved. Sign up sheets will be sent to Sunday school classes.

            July 24th                                                  Flat Rock Playhouse - Sound of Music - Reservations

should be sent to Barbara Barden or Burke Tours (address is on the brochure). The deadline for payment is June 16th~ Checks are to be made out to Burke Tours for $75.00, and mailed to them. There will also be a group from Mouzon Methodist Church going with us. Depart at 7:00 a.m.

            August 21~                               Behind the Scenes, Ericsson Stadium and Blumenthal.

                                                            Deadline is August 1~. Bob and Marilea Grogan will check

                                                            on a place for lunch.

Joe Hamrick will plan a trip to Biltmore House later if there is interest (probably at the September meeting). He will rent a bus and put together a trip.

 

Missions and Ministry:

Marilea Grogan said that $57.Oo was collected today.

 

Publicity:

Melvin McIntosh and Don Redding talked with Barbara Barden about getting Adults Plus schedules on the Web site. There is also other Adults Plus information that is out of date. Barbara Barden will go through the Web site and make corrections. She asked that anyone who could go through and write down changes. Don Redding will also do what he can to get information on the Web site.

 

Facilities:

Good job every month - always something new and interesting.

 

Membership:

Dick Jenkins said that some of the people did not have nametags today. He will sit down with Barbara and make sure all members have a nametag.

 

Spiritual Life:

The date is September 30th, October 1 and 2~”: A list was passed around for people to sign. The deadline for signing to go is June 25tli~ Janet Collins will then send suggestions for her topic to get feedback. The deadline for payment is August 19th~

 

Historian:

Melvin thanked Don Redding for a wonderful job.

 

Barbara Barden was thanked for a super job organizing and running the trip to St. Simons. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
