Hello, everyone!

If the good Lord's willin'n'the streets don't ice up and freeze over, the Ownbey Class  will tackle the final chapters and Epilogue of The American Paradox with Durward Owen leading the way tomorrow, Sunday, January 25th.

Dig out your Bible from under the dust and begin reading the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament.  Paul Guthery and Barbara Barden will invite us to listen to the words of "The Preacher" on February 1 and 8.

Ellen Chason will have cataract surgery on Tuesday, 1/27, and Len Chason will have surgery at Charlotte Orthopaedic Hospital on Thursday, 1/29, at 4 p.m. for repair of fractured vertebrae.  Keep them in your prayers.

Thanks to Don Redding we have learned that Rebecca Ferrell has been commuting to keep her granddaughter while her 34-year-old daughter has been undergoing chemotherapy for Hodgkin's Disease.  The daughter is now in remission will need only radiation for the next step.  Keep Rebecca and her family in your prayers.

Birthdays this week: 28 - Marie Pearce; (no date available) Wilma Miller's mother will be 96.

Sunday afternoon, January 25th, 2 - 5 p.m., is the time for the Charlotte District Leadership School at Providence UMC.  Barbara Barden recommends Jim Westmoreland's class entitled "Fresh Ideas for Adult Sunday School".  No advance  registration and no cost...you can't beat a deal like that!

James Howell begins his series on "Saints and Heroes" Sunday night, January 25th, in Jubilee Hall.  Unfortunately, someone forgot to put the time in The Cornerstone.  Check the bulletin tomorrow.

Looking for a special need to fulfill the challenge of The Work of Christmas: A Special Week of Service that will take place outside the walls of the church?  Carla Cornelius strongly suggests sorting clothes and household items at Crisis Assistance Ministry on Tuesday, January 27, 9-12 a.m. or 1-4 p.m.  You can contact Mark McFalls at 704-543-8828 (home), 704-374-2444 (work) or mark.mcfalls@wachovia.com for more information.
