Here is the latest from Durward regarding Connie.

Would you believe that I had forgotten about the party. Thank you
for being so kind as to let me know what happened. Please tell those
who filled in how much I appreciate them. Connie is not improving at
any fast speed. The infection is still there. The medicine for that
makes food taste awful. Therefore, no eating. She is fed intraveinious
(sp), but we are hopeful solid food tomorrow so she can go to
rehab. She seems to have less pain from the operation, and
requires less pain medicine. Of course Connie is not likely to ask for
it to begin with so we have had to have a "go to the doctors"
lecture to get her to take the stuff. Today I walked her the length of
the hall way twice, which is progress. She calls her medical devise
which carries the tubes, wires, etc. "Charlie". At least she
has some since of humor in spite of the depression she feels after two
months of this. Tell all that she misses visits from all, however
appreciates understanding that she sometimes wants me to leave the room
so she can in solitude live with her situation. Thank all for
Connie and me for the e-mail, phone calls (some of which I just cannot
get to answer), get well cards, flowers, etc. Connie and I are so
blessed by the love of people in the Owing class.
